The ubiquitous 8x10 is possibly the most common ready -made frame size in the US. The classic “8x10 glossy" was the output of the famous Graflex Speed graphic camera which was the dominant portable professional camera from the 1930's through the early 1960's capturing celebrities ranging from Al Capone to Marilyn Monroe. The 8x10 size carries on into the digital age, easily printed out on 8.5x11 photo paper. As the 8x10 is exactly 1/16th of the standard matboard size of 32x40 it is often an economical frame choice as matting and backing can be cut to fit with no waste. 4x6 snapshots fit neatly into an 8x10 frame with a 2" mat. 8x10 has an aspect ratio of 1.25:1. A typical 8x10 frame will cover 1/4 inch of your image all around, resulting in a view window of 7.5x9.5. We also carry this size as a tabletop easel frame.
