The 9x12 should get more love than it does. Big box stores rarely bother to carry it, since it isn't technically a standard photographic size. But there are actually lots of 9x12 photos floating around, languishing for lack of a frame. We want to help. We stock this as a hard- to -find size. This size also corresponds with canvas boards favored by amateur oil painters - if your Aunt Millie gave a small still life chances are it was a 9x12. 12x18 is a standard school construction paper so a 1/2 sheet is 9x12, a popular kids art size for the thrifty art teachers. A 9x12 picture frame makes a nice small size cork or chalk board - just big enough for a single memo or daily special. 9x12 has an aspect ratio of 1.33:1. A typical 9x12 picture frame will cover 1/4 inch of your image all around, resulting in a view window of 8.5x11.5. If you would like a mat to complement your frame, visit our 9x12 Cut Mats. With a mat, a 9x12 frame works best for artwork from 3x6 to 6x9. ![]()
